Highland High region cross country champs

This afternoon Alex ran his region race. He ran at cottonwood complex on 4500 South and 1300 East. His time was 17:20 and he finished number 18 over all. There was 47 kids running. The majority of the kids were Jrs and Snrs in highschool. Each team can only have 7 people on the team and so usually you take your best seven people and have them run varsity and everybody else runs jv. A year ago at the same race Alex ran a 21:57 and so this is pretty exciting. He dropped a ton of time. He was disappointed because he wasn't in the top 10 to be able to get a trophy. He was pretty excited.

The top two pictures is of all of the team after they won first place in the region. The first one is the one of them receiving the trophy and then the other on is of the whole team celebrating after finding out that they won first place. So the rules is the first 6 teams go onto the state race. Then if you make it in the top 10 and your team isn't one of the first 6 teams then you still go to state. Just your team doesn't. The whole team is pretty excited and Alex was pumped. I'm excited to get some numbers to work for. He didn't go to state last year because it was just his first year.

I apologize for the pictures not being in order but I am just learning this blog thing. I don't know how to put pictures in order and Iwill have to play with it more to get this figured out. I will hopefully do better on publishing. You will for sure hear from me next week and I will report on how Alex does on his state meet next week.
